About
Reflective Duet Battle (RDB) is organized into 3 rounds of 2 months with no grace period. While it does have the word "Battle" in its name, the goal is not for you to win, it is for you to remember the improvement. Did you leave this DB better than before you joined? This is the place for creativity to shine through!
RULES
Team Information
1. Your team is limited to 2 vocalists and 6 staff members. There is a requirement of 1 staff member to not encourage burnout to members. (anywhere between 3 - 8 members.)
2. There will be a cap of 80 groups. Because of this, teams must be complete by the time you register. There must be one assigned leader and one co-leader.
3. Teams can add or drop members at any time during the DB as long as the number of members is within the specified limit. Please notify the DB twitter of any roster changes.
4. Members are limited to only one team.
5. Team names must be appropriate. Any NSFW themes will result in immediate disqualification.
6. Anonymous members are allowed, but DB admins must be notified as to who they are.
Entries Information
1. Entries must be at least 2 minutes in length and no longer than 6 minutes.
2. Entries can be in any genre and the creation of original songs, mashups, and arrangements are allowed with proper crediting.
3. Entries can be sung in any language. Translated lyrics are appreciated, but are not mandatory.
4. There is no grace period. All rounds will end at 11:59 PM CST on the listed date. Groups with rendering issues will receive a 12 hour "grace" period after showing proof. Points will not be deducted during this "grace."
5. Your team's entry title must be in this format: 【#RDB2024-R#】 Song Name 【Team Name】
6. Your entry's submission form must include the following: Script, Alternative Upload Link, Final Mix (WAV, Acapella), Art Folder, and an Asset List
7. Please make sure to properly credit everyone's contribution in your team as well as the original credits. Any improper crediting will lead to a warning then disqualification.
8. Use of vocal synthesizers on the main entry is not allowed. RDB will only be judging human vocals on entries.
General Information
1. Themes will be given each round as a crutch for ideas, but they are not mandatory. Creativity is welcome! Show us what you can do.
2. Tracing, plagiarism, or using generative AI of any sort will lead to an immediate disqualification.
3. Any questions regarding the cb (entries, scores, etc.) must be directed to the RDB twitter and no one else.
4. Bullying or harassment to anyone within the DB (within teams, to other teams, to judges or RDB staff, etc.) will receive immediate disqualification.
5. Questions are great! But please ask them in a respectful manner.
Bonus Points Information
1. In an attempt to receive more points, a bonus category critiquing Work Management has been added. This cagetory is catered, but not limited, to the beginner CB participant struggling with time and workload management and looking for some pointers.
2. A group can gain an extra 5 points on both the audio and visual side - a total of 10 bonus points.
3. To receive bonus points, groups must submit the following materials in a google form:AUDIO
* 500 word max explanation of vocal direction: notes within vocalists on how certain things should be sung
* 500 word max explanation of recording direction: notes from the mixer to vocalists on anything that needs to be changed
* compilation of a few drafts/wips sent within the team
* the script will also be looked atVISUAL
* supplementary materials: written briefs, moodboards, character sheets, examples, etc.
* early visuals: sketches, storyboards, outfit designs, etc.
* in-progress: lineart (if applicable), placeholder sprites, rough keyframes, etc.
* short brief (200 words max) on how communication was handled
* art folder and assets list will also be looked at3. Groups can choose to submit only one out of two section if the need for full bonus points is not there.

SCORING
1. Scores will be divided by 50 points for each category + a prospect of 10 bonus points for submitting the extra credit - a total of 210 points total. (More info on bonus points are in "Rules")
2. Groups will have the choice of critique for 1 category.
3. 50% of teams will be eliminated with every round.
